Kitenge Touts Buthelezi as “Good Choice” for Bucs
TS Galaxy goalkeeper, Melusi Buthelezi, is a “good choice” for Orlando Pirates.
That’s according to former Jomo Cosmos goalie Aime Kitenge, who tutored Buthelezi for some years before the latter joined Galaxy in 2020.
“If he is going to Pirates, then good choice there,” Kitenge said of the 25-year-old in an interview with a local soccer outlet on Wednesday, 9 May. “He was young when I worked with him at Cosmos, so I was involved in contributing to part of his development. The boy was at Cosmos before he went to TS Galaxy where he has continued growing and it is no surprise to hear that Orlando Pirates want him.”
Praising Buthelezi’s bravery and “incredible awareness”, the veteran added: “I strongly believe that he is a good choice for Pirates and will make a difference at the club considering that he has fought his way to being the first choice at TS Galaxy.”
His comments come amid reports that Pirates have signed Buthelezi on a three-year deal in order to replace either Richard Ofori or Siyabonga Mpontshane, whose contracts come to an end in June.
Neither Buthelezi nor the Buccaneers have commented on these reports – guess we’ll have to see what happens when the next transfer window opens in June!
